Sword Hilts Opinions (asking you guys)
So for the sword people out there, I want to ask a question. In your opinions, what do you think is the best sword hilt in the game to get/upgrade your sword with?
Furious Sword Hilt (double adrenaline, 10% chance) Vampiric " (3 life steal, -1 health degen) Sundering (10% penetration, 10% chance) Elemental (fire, earth, lightning, cold) Zealous (1 energy steal, -1 energy degen) Sword Mastery (+1, 20% chance) Lengthening effects (bleeding/crippling) Please post your opinion and/or reasoning here. |

I personally would go with the Poisoner's Hilt since I am a W/R and rely on my Apply Poison skill. I'm sure most other people would go with a vampiric hilt though.

(2) - not really for a sword....if your using an axe yes. (3) - is equal to 10% chance for a few measly points extra. (4) - Elemental to be honest are pointless, again the damage it could give you extra isnt much. (5) - Good option if you dont have Balthazaars spirit. (6) - waste of time damage increases are so minimal its sad. (7) - Increased bleeding sounds ok but with just 12 in sword my sever artery lasts long enough anyway. |

I'm fairly new to the game, but I was wondering about the 10% on adrenaline hilt. Does it that there's a 90% chance I won't get the extra adrenaline. If thats the case, isn't the odd against you to really get anything from the hilt??????

Zealous is best in most cases, at least if you need energy. Vampiric is worst, somewhere on these boards is the math that shows that only the best (+3) version maybe breaks even, if you are lucky.

As the first poster pointed out, it depends on your build and what you use. I think you could make a great argument for the vampiric if you use Hundred Blades. Also, it's not about your life going up and down, it's about the extra damage you are doing.
Anyway, I think that most upgrades have their place depending on your build. Matt |

The two best are, indisputably under the math, Vampiric first and Furious second. The others provide minimal benefit, and the only other I would ever consider is for special circumstances, like sundering on an expensive showpiece, or elemental hilts combined with an elemental conjuring skill.
You didn't ask about pommels, but if case you are wondering, the right answer there is +30 fortitude or +5 defense tied for first, and enchanting pommels for builds and groups that take advantage of it. |

The elemental ones are for W/E or E/W who conjure elements for extra damage.
